I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good…. Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country. We don’t want equal time. We don’t want pluralism.
—Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, quote from Fort Wayne Indiana News-Sentinel on August 16, 1993 (according to Wikipedia).
Thanks to the Barefoot Bum for bringing this to my attention, and to Five Public Opinions for bringing it to his.
Sounds like this Randall Terry guy didn’t so much practice the teachings of Christ.
Yeah. Even in my own fundamentalist/evangelical Calvary Chapel upbringing, I’m pretty sure he was considered a nut. My Dad was in Operation Rescue for a bit, but got out when they started getting rather terroristic.
But he still has a good deal of pull with some folks; a lot of people support Operation Rescue. The quote’s fifteen years old, so there’s the possibility he’s toned down somewhat, but I kind of doubt it.
